Bazzi is a singer/songwriter from Michigan who first exploded when his song ‘Mine’ began trending in 2018 and quickly climbed the charts, earning him many awards for the single. After that release, he released his debut album Cosmic, and followed up with Soul Searching (2019) and Infinite Dream (2022).

This star is one of my favorite pop male artists as a singer, songwriter, performer, and persona. I’ve loved every project he’s worked on but there is something magical about his debut album. Every song felt powerful and the lyricism was heartfelt. With sixteen songs in total and not a single collaboration, it is an experience of heartbreak, self-reflection, and love. When his second album was released, many fans were surprised by the different sounds introduced. Songs like Humble Begginings and Focus ft. 21 Savage are hip-hop influenced with other songs being almost like a rap or spoken word. Other songs use more of a slow trap beat with a rapping flow to the lyrics. Even so, some fan favorites are songs with a bit of the Cosmic touch, i.e. Paradise, I.F.L.Y., and Live Forever.
Last night Bazzi released his fourth single this year and mentioned to fans beforehand in a Discord chat that the sound was a magical combination of Cosmic and Infinite Dream. After listening to the new song more than a handful of times, I understand the correlation to his previous sound. This is something I have seen with all the songs released this year. They all have the same feeling that I got the first time I heard Cosmic while simultaneously sounding brand new.
Production:
One of my favorite aspects of the sound is how he shreds on the guitar. Knowing that Bazzi plays the guitar excites me for an incredible performance where he plays those guitar riffs live. The first song he ever released as Bazzi, Alone, also had a guitar solo during the live performance on the tour and it was one of the most anticipated parts of the show. There is just something about seeing live musical instruments played even if it’s not a noticeable sound in the studio production we hear on streaming services.
Lyrics:
Although this song has an upbeat sound, the lyrics are deep and romance is something Bazzi isn’t afraid of speaking about. The feeling of longing for someone you love and accepting your imperfections to love them is a feeling we can all relate to. Bazzi also briefly touches on his ongoing sobriety with the first line saying, “now I'm way off them drugs need your kisses and hugs.” It’s inspiring to see artists trying to overcome bad habits that often occur in the industry and be open about those struggles.
With whispers of a new album release, I can’t wait to hear what else is on this new project. So far, this album feels even more personal to him than previous projects and I’m anticipating the feeling of hearing these songs played live on tour.
