Last night (July 23rd) Colombian artist, Karol G, live-streamed her final show the ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ stadium tour at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, Spain. This tour started in August of last year following her fourth studio album, Mañana Será Bonito (2023), and its mixtape album, Bichota Season (2023). This tour had a total of 63 shows across North America, South America, and Europe.

Each show had approximately 36 shows, varying per show, and lasted around 3 hours. Karol G takes fans on a journey of her life stages by including songs from her previous albums like Ocean, Tusa, and A Ella.

Many artists have adapted the concept of recording their concerts for viewers, especially since the pandemic. Taylor Swift has made tour documentaries for her tour shows, most recently the ‘Eras Tour’ movie released in theaters. Artist like Beyonce have also made movies out of their tours. One thing that I admire about Karol G is that this livestream was free to watch on YouTube. There was no charge for fans and it was very professionally done. Some fans were expecting a single camera angle of someone recording but instead, there were various camera angles, drone cameras, and even a handheld camera that followed her for close-up shots.

As a fan who saw her show in New York City last year, I was blown away by how the livestream transported me back to that day. It was an incredible opportunity for fans who weren’t able to attend any of the shows, to be a part of it.

The setlist ranged from club bangers to emotional songs, to Latin culture. The show started strong with upbeat songs and intense choreography that made any fan want to dance. There was also a section in the show where she slows it down and sings a ballad, Ocean, to express her love for fans. My favorite section was when she honored Latin culture by singing Latin-inspired songs like her regional Mexican rhythm songs like Mi Ex Tenía RazónGucci Los Paños, and 200 Copas. During this section, she also looked into the crowd to call out all the country flags she saw present and took a shot with everyone in the stadium.

It was incredibly touching how humble the artist showed herself and how the cheer of the crowd supporting her was enough to bring her to genuine tears. Karol is an artist that many people love for her humbleness and kindness towards all her fans. Colombians are incredibly proud that she represents their country so boldly and proudly.

One thing that did surprise me about this final show was the lack of musical guest appearances. Many fans assumed that because it was the last show and was being recorded, Karol would bring out some of the artists featured in her songs. As much as it was an initial shock, I later understood why she might have decided against it. During the show, she talked about how the tour changed her life and, understandably, she might have wanted the memory of it to just be her and her fans.

With this tour, Karol G made history becoming the first female Latin artist to headline an all-stadium tour across North and South America. She was also the first female Latin artist in history to headline a sold-out in my hometown show, Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, all shows in Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain, and other shows in California. With the tour now being over, I am excited to hear what comes next in this new chapter of her life.
